Position Summary:
The Rehab Team at Valley Regional Hospital (VRH) is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist mainly to perform bedside swallow evaluations and barium swallows when current SLP is not available. The primary responsibility of the speech-language pathologist is to diagnose and treat individuals of all ages who have health-related conditions that limit their ability to perform functional activities that fall under the scope of speech-language pathology practice. Responsible for administration and direct application of speech/language pathology treatment modalities as prescribed by a referring physician. Examine each individual and develop a plan of care using treatment techniques to restore or maximize function and slow or prevent decline following disease or injury. Coordinates, supervises, and delegates to supportive staff. Assures and maintains personal competency. Provides information related to departmental budget considerations in relationship to speech pathology needs for optimum patient care and service. Communicates the organization's vision within the rehab team and interactions with patients; aligns work efforts to support its fulfillment.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform bedside swallow evaluations and barium swallows when the current SLP is unavailable.
  • Diagnose and treat individuals of all ages with health-related conditions affecting functional activities within the speech language pathology scope of practice.
  • Administer and apply speech/language pathology treatment modalities as prescribed by a referring physician.
  • Examine individuals and develop a plan of care using treatment techniques to restore or maximize function or to slow/prevent decline following disease or injury.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and delegate tasks to supportive staff.
  • Ensure and maintain personal competency in the field of speech language pathology.
  • Provide information related to departmental budget considerations in relation to speech pathology needs for optimal patient care and service.
  • Communicate the organization's vision within the rehab team and during interactions with patients; align work efforts to support fulfilling this vision.


Requirements:

Education-
  • Master's Degree
Experience-
  • Minimum 2 years current experience.
  • Demonstrates initiative and follow-through.
  • Able to practice autonomously yet work well within a close-knit team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to operate technology for daily functions as required by the organization and department standards.
  • High integrity, able to follow procedures.
Certification or Licenses Requirements-
  • ASHA certification 
  • Valid Speech Language License in New Hampshire 
  • BLS
