Position Summary
Darren Patterson Academy ("DPCA") is seeking a full-time Coordinator for its Busy Bees Preschool for the 2022-2023 school year. The Coordinator will be joining the school's leadership team in providing high-quality Christian early-childhood education for students and families. The position requires a full-time commitment for mid-August through the end of May, with part-time responsibilities preparing for the school year during the summer.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Maintain health, safety, and licensing regulations congruent with state requirements for large child care centers; ensure that staff and self-maintain appropriate credentials such as fingerprint testing, Pediatric CPR, First Aid, Blood-Borne Pathogen, Colorado Shines, etc. 
  • Communicate and collaborate with the school office manager to maintain clear records (licensing, budget, student information, purchasing, payments, building maintenance, etc.) 
  • Attend monthly early Childhood Council Meetings as well as quarterly School Board meetings. 
  • Serve as the chief advocate for students in ensuring the quality of their education, caring treatment, and spiritual development, in both the school and larger community. 
  • Be a positive, trustworthy authority figure; develop personal relationships with parents, children, and staff. 
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with parents about children’s growth & progress. 
  • Lead team of preschool staff professionally & spiritually, with weekly staff meetings, regular communication, and clear expectations. 
  • Develop staff through observations & constructive feedback, as well as planning/coordinating professional development and/or in-service training opportunities. 
  • Support preschool teaching staff in establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior in order to create a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment. 
  • Establish comprehensive curriculum objectives for preschool programs that meet expectations for students entering kindergarten; assist staff with assessments, curriculum mapping, and other tools to help meet curricular and discipling goals. 
  • Plan and attend events including open houses and special programs.

Additional Information

  • Summers off (3-5 hours a week during the summer)
  • Tuesday - Friday (7:45 AM - 3:15 PM school hours)

Requirements

  • Vision for Biblically centered education with the ability to integrate Biblical thinking into all aspects of the preschool program. 
  • Director qualified credentials appropriate to the position and recognized by the Colorado Department of Health and Human Services for a Large Child Care Center. Candidate must be either 1) licensed as a qualified Large Child Care Center Director through the Colorado Office of Early Childhood, or 2) with qualifications making expedient licensing probable. Assurance on the likelihood of certification from the Colorado Office of Early Childhood is preferred. Large Center Director qualifications and process for applying can be found here
  • 3-5 years of experience in early childhood education. 
  • Technological proficiency is sufficient to independently execute the duties of the position.
